St. Catherine Exhibition

The first time I learned about the St. Catherine Patron of the Arts Art, Poetry and Photography Exhibition was in 2007, when I covered the ninth annual show for the North Jersey newspaper The Suburban Trends. Back then, I was fascinated by how 600-plus artists and photographers came together in one setting to celebrate the beauty of creativity, the human’s existence and humankind’s attempt to understand this puzzle of a universe.

2010 marks the 11th year of the St. Catherine Patron of the Arts Art, Poetry and Photography Exhibit. Its venue is the St. Catherine of Bologna Parish Center in Ringwood, NJ. Ringwood is one of the two towns I cover for The Suburban Trends; the other one is Wanaque. Both towns are in Passaic County. St. Catherine is the patron saint of the arts.

In 2009, I realized I want to enter my work into the exhibition, and join in the poetry reading on Saturday night. The exhibition is scheduled from Friday, March 5 to Sunday, March 7. The poetry reading is on March 6.

This year, I’m entering three poems into the exhibition’s judging competition, and putting up a fourth one for a silent auction. There’s a $30 hanging fee for the three poems that will compete. More information about the exhibition can be found at The application to enter the exhibits is at

This year, I’m excited to know that I’m entering the exhibition. Even if I don’t win any prizes, I’m still thrilled to know that I get to share my poetry with a wider community of poets.
