My summer 2011 reading list

Last week, I signed up for a reading club at the West Milford Township Library in West Milford, NJ. For this club, participants are required to file the amount of minutes they read, and the title and author of the book read. This is day four for me being in the reading club, and I’ve been reading 30 minutes every day. So far, so good.

Knowing that I’m a member of this reading club, I’ve scoured through my bookshelves for the books that I most want to read first, and I came up with a list.

So here’s my summer reading list for 2011:
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith: I started reading this around the last holiday season. I’m on chapter 29 when all of a sudden my interest in the book dropped off. But it’s an interesting tale, an interesting spin on an Austen classic, fraught with zombie mayhem and the ass-kicking Bennet sisters.

Plum Lovin’: A Stephanie Plum Between the Numbers Novel by Janet Evanovich: I cracked open this book last month (May), but didn’t finish reading it either. This is a quirky book that involves Stephanie Plum playing matchmaker to the clients of a “relationship expert” who is wanted for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. There are quite a few books I have to catch up in reading!

Ungrateful Dead: Murder at the Fillmore by Patricia Morrison: I have “liked” Patricia Morrison’s Facebook page, and read excerpts from a couple of books in the Rennie Stride Rock n’ Roll Mystery series. I’m drawn in by how wonderfully Morrison is able to recreate the 60s era and be able to draw the reader into it. I look forward to reading more books in the Rennie Stride mysteries.

Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climberby Adele Lang: When I bought this at a Syracuse bookstore, I was so looking foward to reading it. Just the title alone makes me realize that this would be a snarky, dark novel — my cup of tea. This book reminds me of “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” which is a breezy, fun read.
