It’s a satisfying feeling when a writer learns her work has reached out to others and influenced them one way or another.
Just in time for last Halloween, I covered a story for my newspaper about a Wanaque, NJ, house that’s haunted by its former occupants. This house was in the local Venezia family for about 100 years, so it has much historical significance within this small town and this family. Last October, the house was featured in the DIY Network paranormal show “Haunted House for Sale.” The Victorian house, a beauty that overlooks the Wanaque Reservoir, has been on sale since its last owner died in 2009.
In my work email inbox, a former Wanaque resident saw my article and wrote to me with interest in featuring the house on paranormal TV show he’s pitching to production companies. The email is dated Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011.

Hello Teresa,
I have just read your article on the Haunted Wanaque House on Ringwood Ave. I grew up in Wanaque and lived there for 32 years before I moved out but my parents still live there. I always knew that place was haunted. Great article. I am starting my own paranormal reality show and wanted to know if you have any contacts with KPI TV. Although I have a film company in L.A. Film Garden Entertainment interested in my show I would like to work with people here on the east coast. If you have any contacts I would appreciated it if you would send them to me.
Below is a list of film industries that have viewed my show. Have a Happy New Year,
Giuseppe (Joe) DiMarco

Excited that my article has whetted someone’s interest in featuring it on another paranormal TV show, I replied via email:

Here’s KPI’s contact info:

Also, try contacting Livia Deak. As you may recall from reading my article, she’s the house’s realtor for Century 21 and the late previous owner’s daughter:
Out of curiosity, what had you always suspecting that the Venezia house is haunted?
I wish you well in your new endeavor:)

And this was Joe’s response to me, which came into my inbox today, Jan. 3 at 1:13 p.m.:
