Aging gracefully

It’s so ironic that nowadays, a person’s average life span is much longer than it was 100 or 200 years ago, yet there are still some people who feel defeated at a young age, and who feel as though they have to conquer the world while in their youth. We live in a media world where the media not only bombards people with images of eternal youth and beauty, but also with “success stories” of teenagers and 20- something year olds becoming multi-millionaires and billionaires.

However, I do agree there are many beautiful women who have aged gracefully (Meryl Streep, Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon, etc.). It’s all about taking care of oneself physically, mentally and spiritually so one can feel youthful and beautiful even into their senior years. Taking this philosophy, I hope to age gracefully as well. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I exercise consistently and watch what I eat. I also wear often sunscreen (yes, even when I’m not at the beach!).

And it all depends on the individual, not the stereotypes that go with age. Just because a woman is 50 or 60 doesn’t mean she’s unattractive or unsexy. Conversely, being a young women doesn’t necessarily mean she has beauty or sexiness. As a woman gets older, it’s also her wisdom, maturity and experience that adds to that sexiness.
