I have no writing desk at home. I used to have one when I lived in New Jersey, but the fact that it’s back there and I live in Florida now doesn’t help, does it? Of course not having a desk is not the end of the world (and I was writing tongue-in-cheek when I “confessed” I lack a desk), but that goes to show that authors can work comfortably anywhere.
I’ve been wanting to get a desk, preferably one from an antique shop. I even know where to put the desk in my house and what my workspace would look like. However, with schedule constraints, that didn’t come to fruition. At least, not yet;-)
So if I don’t have a desk in my house, where do I go to work? Well, the video above and the transcript below explain that.

Good morning, Happy Saturday! So this vlog is going to be about where I write and where I work. The thing is, first of all, is that at home I don’t have a writing desk. So what I do is I would of course — excuse the noise, I’m out in the street. What we do is either at home, I would write at my dining table, or if I am going out, I go sit at a café. And one of the cafés I’m going to is Barney’s CoffeeKitchen right here in Winter Park. So if I can just reverse it, take this off selfie mode, show you where I am, but here, here Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen, Winter Park. Very beautiful out here. It’s a very beautiful morning and let’s see to show you right now what I’m doing. I have my planner out, my planner, my work, my workbook for my business. And of course my laptop. Some — once in a while, I like to work with my with a pen pad and pen, but it’s very convenient with me of course, to work on the computer. I’m a very fast typist.
My schedule now is, this morning, is I’m going to work on my marketing plan for my imprint, Heathermoors Books. And then this morning at 10:00 AM, I’m going to jump online to the Write Gym session, which is run by Racquel Henry, who is the founder of Writer’s Atelier located in Maitland, Florida. And that’ll be from 10 to 11. And then from 11 to 12, I’m going to be on a call with a consultant about redesigning my website.
So thank you for tuning into watching this vlog. And I hope that we can connect online.
***A few things I’d like to mention that I forgot to do in the video. When I write, I listen to music on Spotify or Pandora (more so, Spotify). The playlist I play depends on my mood. Sometimes it’s a Madonna playlist, other times it’s classical music. I set a timer for 15 minutes using the BeFocused app and write as fast as I can. For the most part I can’t spend hours straight at a computer and type like the wind with my eyes glued to the monitor. After 15 minutes, I take a break, then go again for another 15 minutes; break, write, break write.***
