how many different ways
can an organization say
“We do wonders for our community”?
how many different ways
can these groups’ beneficiaries say
“My lifelong dream is now fulfilled“?
how many different ways
can political foes tell each other
“You are a wicked human being”
yet
tell their voters
“Vote for Me;
I’m the second coming”?
how many different ways
can a malcontent whine
about politicians are destroying
the city,
the state,
the country,
yet
do nothing worthwhile but
run a failed local campaign?
it would be much easier
to lay out a template
for all the different stories
i had covered and
swap out
the who
the what
the where
the when
the why
of it all
meld all these stories
together
into one heap
of indiscernible details
all of them bear the headline
THIS IS HOW THE WORLD WORKS
THE END
how many different ways …
